DAYTON, Ohio (SOUND VALLEY) - Dayton-based pop punk band, Life In Idle is staying busy in the recording studio and is set to release their second full length album sometime in 2022. In the meantime, the band is giving fans a pop-punk snack to hold them over just in time for summer!
What was the inspiration for "Waterwell"?
"The song was inspired by some of our favorite midwest emo bands. The song has a lot of melody and is backed by all the emotions that come with losing a friend you weren’t ready to lose."
What’s the song about?
"The lyrics came from a very reflective place and hit a few commons themes. The whole song is looking back at a toxic point in time wishing you would have done something or anything differently in a situation where you were losing a friend. We hope listeners get a feel for the new direction we are taking with our music. We want them to feel like we’re the same band as before just revamped and better than ever.
Describe the writing process? Did you take any new approach to this new record?
"The writing process for this E.P. was different than how we usually go about writing. The songs are more inclusive with our instrumentals and we recorded everything live. The whole point was to have these songs feel as honest and real as the emotions that come with them."
What were your influences when writing the new record?
"We were influenced musically a lot by Hot Mulligan and Movements. We really like the fresh approach they take to alternative emo music and we hope to keep it just as fresh as they do.
When can we expect the full album?
Before our next full length album, you can expect a 2 song concept EP featuring “Waterwell” and another upcoming single “Lovebirds”. After that, we will start working towards the release of a full length but that's not until early 2022.

"Waterwell" Lyrics
There must have been something in the waterwell
When we drowned As we both fall together now Seems like there's no way out
Let's direct your attention to the time where we all went our separate ways I can still feel your pain everyday
As I look up I think about All the ones you love
And let's not forget the ones who loved you in return
And the ones who turned their backs on you
Laid to rest Like every fucking thing I said
I really thought that love would feel different
Way to make me feel like I could make a difference
There must have been something in the waterwell
I'm sorry that we were such a bother to you
You held yourself just like your mothers' daughter
She'd be so proud you've moved onward now
This town can make you feel so desolate
Just like a spec of dust
Never to be seen again
Trivial and unimportant Like a diamond that began to rust In desperation you resorted Never to be seen again
But I hope we meet again someday my friend
Way to make me feel like I could make a difference
when I never meant a god damn thing
You're just another lesson I'll have to repeat In every fucking somber line that I sing
Laid to rest like every fucking thing I said I really thought that love would feel different Way to make me feel like I could make a difference
